Marbach State Stud

Spend a day doing some sightseeing, but mainly visiting the Marbach State
Stud. If I remember my figures right they have been in operation for about
500 years, have over 500 horses spread over 900 hectares on 3 properties,
divided into Stallions, Mares and foals and the third property with all
colts, fillies and recently gelded colts. We visited the Stallion property
at Marbach itself. Took a couple of pictures, but generally impressive, with
most stallions coming up to the front of their stalls for a sniff and a
scratch. They have a purebred Arab herd, Warmbloods and some heavier horses
also.

Have added a few pictures to the Facebook gallery at

German Reithof

Did a quick visit to a small Reihof near where I am staying at the moment. It's a converted farm so the space for horses varies from really nice to cute, but all large and airy.

Top Team Horse Trials 2012 Level 2 Bulla

The big one for the year was the Top Team horse trials held this time at at Bulla. The Crosscountry proved to be a good test of horse and rider.

Coming 5th after dressage, after the cross country we were in first place for several hours. Even the one rail we pulled in showjumping did not change that. But a protest by one of the riders did. One of the penalties they attracted on the crosscountry was overturned and we ended up in second place once more.

Yackandandah Horse Trials 2012 Level 2 - YouTube

What do you get after a 58% dressage test, a stop crosscountry plus time, and a rail showjumping? 2nd place at the Yackandandah Horse trials held at the Kergunya Pony club grounds. A challenging crosscountry course plus a well designed showjumping meant no double clear rounds for anybody this time.

Thankyou to the sponsors Corowa Chaff Mills and Virbac for the great prices we got and of course Yackandandah Riding Club for going through the effort of running this (and the great Lamb Roast dinner)
